*Note: The data in this finding was compiled by internal research based on standard averages of Iowa and Minnesota residents with a four-year college degree. A typical degree takes four years to complete. Most employers in these industries do not reimburse tuition. Less than 3 in 10 four-year graduates find a job in their college major upon graduation.

Komatsu designed, RMS driven experience

Since we’re known for exceptional service and support, our standards are high. That’s why we’re proud to partner with Komatsu America and leading technical programs that can launch a career with RMS.

The North Dakota State College of Science (NDSCS) offers an Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree program called the Diesel Technology – Komatsu program. This program combines state-of-the-art on-campus training in Wahpeton, North Dakota with a paid internship at RMS available both during and after the program.

This degree can be earned in 20 months, and eligible candidates will not only be well-positioned for a job with RMS upon completion but can be reimbursed for most, if not all, of tuition expenses during their first three years of employment with RMS.

Get your education closer to home.

These programs offer a more well-rounded diesel technician education where you will hone your skills at a school closer to your home. Just like with the Komatsu program at NDSCS, we offer internship opportunities, tuition reimbursement, and job placement upon graduation.

RMS is proud to work with these technical, vocational, and community college programs. If you are interested in a program at a college not listed, please contact Recruiting and Talent Coordinator Carter Friesen for more information.

Getting my degree at Kirkwood Community College while interning at the Cedar Rapids branch prepared me for my job as a service technician. I was able to go to school locally, get the training I needed, and start the career I wanted on the right path. Plus, with tuition reimbursement, I was able to get school paid for while some of my friends are still paying off their student loans.

TUITION REIMBURSEMENT

Start your career debt free.

Student loan debit is one of the main factors in deciding on a college program. The thrill of graduation and starting a career can quickly fade once it comes time to pay student loans, and it can set back your financial clock. Road Machinery & Supplies Co. understands this, and that is why we offer a tuition reimbursement program for diesel technicians joining our company after graduation. Through scholarships, RMS will reimburse up to 100 percent of tuition costs based on grade point average over a 36-month period. We see this as an investment in the foundation of our team, and a way to ensure our new technicians being their career with the best financial support possible.

FOR PARENTS

Becoming a Diesel Technician is only the beginning.

Working as a diesel technician is a fun and rewarding career that offers a work experience that rarely repeats itself from one day to the next. However, it isn’t the end destination if you don’t want it to be. Our service technicians have upward mobility that gives them opportunities to grow and advance their careers at Road Machinery & Supplies Co.

A great example of this is our own Joel Werthmann. Joel graduated from a diesel technology program and started as a service technician in 2002. After joining RMS in 2011, Joel has continued to advance his career through a number of roles.
